I’m so proud to be a part of LEAF in their efforts to inspire and engage young people to try to make a difference. By involving them in LEAF’s ECOmmercial contest we can not only foster creativity in our youth, but also give them the tools to help tackle some of our larger environmental problems.
Ed Begley, Jr., Founding Celebrity LEAF Partner

As a Mother, filmmaker, and activist, I support and applaud LEAF’s efforts to empower our youth to become environmental leaders. It is vital that we listen to their concerns for their planet and do all we can to support their voice!

This is Tosh Townend and I recommend to get out there to make your 30-60 second eco-friendly commercial for your future. Let’s all work at making a better place for our kids, kids so they can enjoy this world like we got to.
Tosh Townend, Professional Skater

The ocean is our best natural playground. Let’s respect it, so generations to come can enjoy its gifts as much as we do! Join LEAF and make a difference!
Alex Gray, Volcom Pro Surfer

If we can through LEAF convince kids to care about their environment through the creative use of film-making, then we’ve done a good thing!
Peter Townend (PT), First World Champion Surfer

It’s an honor to be involved with LEAF and be able to help support their efforts. The wisdom and enthusiasm of young and inspired filmmakers given an opportunity can surely help shape a more positive future. With fresh eyes they can address issues forgotten or ignored by many older people who refuse to break environmentally bad habits – and won’t have to live with the consequences.
Charles Hambleton, associate producer of The Cove
Ana (the Founder of LEAF) is a force of woman and nature….of the variety that isn’t warming the planet, and now more than ever, the next generation needs her and LEAF to begin to heal.
Stephen Nemeth, Film Producer and Environmental Activist
California has a legacy of leadership on the environment, science, and technology, that have made the state one of the most hypercompetitive economies in the world. I commend LEAF for giving our students an outlet to showcase their environmental awareness and the opportunity to provide their voice to the dialogue regarding our planet’s future.
Jack O’Connell State Superintendent of Public Instruction

Last year, LEAF rocked! The entries were amazing and the energy that was created by all the creativity and messaging was awesome. We’re looking forward to this year being just as good, if not better. If you’re a High School student in California – get on it, join LEAF!
Derek Sabori, Director of Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility, Volcom newfuture.volcom.com
Film is the most powerful medium in the world to effect positive environmental change.   We need legions of young filmmakers out there learning the craft and understanding that through their creativity they can indeed change the world. Join the revolution and support L.E.A.F.
Louie Psihoyos, director of Oscar Winner for Best Documentary “The Cove”
Sally RanneyThe impacts that are unfolding as a direct result of climate change will inevitably affect the world’s youngest and future generations the most. In this regard, we must do what we can to engage and educate youth on this issue. LEAF has the ability to do just that and most importantly, it empowers kids to see how they can be part of the solution through inspiring them to action.”
Sally Ranney, Co Director American Renewable Energy Day (AREDAY)

As a human being, an actor and filmmaker I support LEAF because the entertainment industry is celebrated world wide, thus has the capacity for cultural influence like no other.
The cultural influence must start in the mindset of its practitioners if it to effect authentic change in itself and its audience. The Filmmakers must think sustainably. LEAF as a community has created this platform.

Kyle Herman“I am a modest person, so to be a Leader of Environmental Action Films feels so humbling. I am thankful to have been granted this opportunity to be a part of such a noble movement. I grew up sailing in Newport Beach, so appreciation for nature and the water come so naturally to me; so when I found out about this competition, I did not even hesitate to enter! To have worked on something like this has been truly eye-opening to the problems that our already fragile environment faces. As if it was not rewarding enough to have know that I have helped to spread the message of environmental conscience, I have found this competition to have some personal advantages to it as well.  I wrote about this competition on all my college applications, and I am sure that it had a big impact on my being accepted to Chapman University Film School. For the past month I have been shooting celebrity promos and interviews, getting their environmental perspectives.  This program has helped me gain so much experience, as well as connections, that are priceless to an upcoming filmmaker that is just starting out in film school.  I would like to especially thank Ana Rothwell for giving me this one of a kind opportunity that many other filmmakers and environmental activists can only dream of getting.”

Mattan Cohen2010 L.E.A.F. First Place High School Winner, Mattan Cohen Statement of Support

“Winning the L.E.A.F. contest last year was incredible! Aside from the astonishing prizes I won, I have to say the ultimate gain was putting L.E.A.F. on the top of my resume to apply for colleges.  It looks incredibly impressive to say on paper that you’ve won a film contest sponsored by a long list of leaders of business, entertainment, academia and the environment.

I am proud to say I was just accepted by the best film school in the entire nation, USC School of Cinematic Arts, which is honestly my dream above all dreams!  I am confident that having my 1st place L.E.A.F. honor listed at the very top of my resume absolutely parted me from others. Ana Rothwell (Founder of L.E.A.F.) and her team have given me what could potential be the greatest opportunity of my entire life, and I truthfully cannot thank her and the L.E.A.F. team enough for it!

On top of this, Ana continued to help introduce me and my friends, who had also worked on the project, to industry professionals who were very open to internships. As a result, we interned for a film crew named “Green Planet” and a shark diver named “Luke Tipple” all through Ana’s connections, and in turn, we were privileged to work with other film leaders like Slash, Nigel Barker, Lisa Edelstein and Charles Hambleton (Oscar Winner “The Cove”).

Ana has opened doors for us in incredible ways and allowed us to be a part of a huge environmental movement that is very much needed. I am beyond excited to see what more she does with L.E.A.F. in the near future because it is moving forward very fast and very effectively, and it really is making a difference!”  Mattan Cohen – High School Senior, 2010 L.E.A.F. 1st place winner and 2011 L.E.A.F.
